    The ComedyCures Foundation

A grasshopper walks into a bar and sits down. The bartender says, "you know we have a drink named after you?" And the grasshopper says " you have a drink named steve?"

This is a typical joke posted on the Comedy Cures Foundation site. The ComedyCures Foundation is a national non-profit organization bringing joy, laughter and therapeutic humor programs to kids & grown-ups living with illness, depression, trauma and disabilities. Through private and corporate donations, and the goodwill and humor of the comedy industry, it is their mission to entertain and educate kids and grown-ups living with illness, their families, and medical caregivers about the benefits of laughter and a comic perspective on the mind, body, and spirit.

If you have a nice (not off color or vulgar) joke or if you know of someone who needs uplifted a bit, try this place. I've donated a few and I think its great.

    Ten Minute Play Contest

The Charleston Stage Company, in conjunction with Festivall Charleston has developed the new Location!Location!Location! Play Project. The purpose of the project is to explore the dramatic possibilities of some of Charleston’s unusual spaces and to get theatre off the stage and into the public places.

For the 2006 play competition, the space chosen is the first floor lobby of the Security Building (100 Capitol St.) at the corner of Virginia & Capitol. Specifically, playwrights will be asked to write a ten-minute play based on the enigmatic mural (SEE IMAGE) in the lobby of this office building.

The plays will be read and judged by out of state judges who will consider (among other things) creative use of the dramatic possibilities of the space. The three top plays will be given a staged reading in the lobby of the building on Saturday June 24, 2006 as part of Festivall Charleston

Please see the Location! Location! Location! site for more details.
