North Carolina Lights in the Mountains Conference

The North Carolina Writers' Network West 2nd Lights in the Mountains Writers' Conference will take place September 30, 2006 at the beautiful Hinton Rural Life Center, Hayesville, North Carolina.

The following workshop leaders will be in attendence:

Poetry: Dr. James Smith is associate editor at Southern Poetry Review. An associate professor at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia, he teaches Creative Writing and American Literature.

Fiction: Valerie Nieman, author of FIDELITIES, (short fiction) and two novels. She received an NEA fellowship and twice won the Elizabeth Simpson Smith Prize.

Non-fiction: Lynn York, Carrboro resident Lynn York's debut novel, THE PIANO TEACHER, was published in 2004 by Plume. A second novel , THE WINEMAKER, will be released in 2007.

Self Publishing: Bill Reynolds, has sucessfully self-published five novels since 2000. He is knowledgeable of type setting, signature construction, and cover design.

Tom Davis, owner of Old Mountain Press and author of six books. Tom assists over 200 authors in self-publishing their books.
