QUESTION: I am considering submitting a children's book with illustrations. There are guidelines for submitting text but how are illustrations submitted?
ANSWER: The guidelines for submitting art are listed on the contest entry form, but the short version is to submit only copies of the illustrations. Original art cannot be returned, so only copies are allowed to be submitted. If the illustrations are in color, then color photocopies would be recommended. And it is also recommended that the copies of the illustrations fit on a standard 8.5" x 11" paper if at all possible. This helps when it comes to mailing the entries to the judges.
